Time Flies

It has been a long time since my last post! We have done so much and have been having such a good time.

A few days ago, we met Christoph Niemann, an illustrator for The New Yorker. He was very entertaining, and I really enjoyed it!

Afterwards, we ate at Dolores Burrito then stopped for a little treat.

After taking more pictures of my subject the next day, I stopped at Juliet for a delicious meal.

Later on, we explored the museums. When we went outside, this is what we found.

Friday, we decided to take a trip to the Berlin zoo. The animals were incredible, and they seemed to know we wanted them to pause for pictures.

Lyn and Alison walk through the zoo.

I took as many pictures of children as I did of the animals!

This seal popped up right in time for a photo opportunity.

We only have three days left. Now that I have finished my photo project, I will be able to make the most of my last few days in the city.

Day 5

Today was a great day. This morning I woke up and went with Lyn to meet my subject for my photography project. I ended up spending two hours at my coffee shop, Cafe CK, just talking to  the owner and the other workers. I took a lot of pictures and took video. I'm really excited about my project! I'll still need to go back and get some more pictures, but so far so good.

Then I walked back to the hotel by myself. All those fluffy things that fall from the trees were flying around, and it looked like it was snowing. The weather was warm and perfect, and I passed a little cafe, so I stopped to eat. I didn't know what I ordered, but it came and it was wonderful.

After going back home I worked on my project while everyone else ate at this vietnamese place. Then it was time for the play! We took a tram to the theater and we saw Yma which was AWESOME. And weird. And interesting. And nerve-racking. Loved it.

Days 2 and 3

Things have been so busy here! Yesterday was a LONG day of walking around the city for a tour. It was a lot of information, but also very interesting. Professor Freeman had to speed our tour guide up so we could make it to the capital building.
The building was so crazy! We went through so many security measures just to get inside. Then we went to the glass dome and used an audio tour to go to the very top. I LOVED it. I learned so much about so many places in Berlin and got to see the city from a completely different view. I also saw this precious little boy.

That night it started to pour, so we hung out in the hotel for a while until we decided to have a group meal at Al Dente, which was one of my favorite meals so far! I didn't know what I was ordering, but what I got was delicious.

Today was our first free day. We all slept in and caught up on sleep. Then a few of us walked around our neighborhood to explore. It is so much cuter than I initially thought. The buildings are beautiful and there are all of these adorable little local shops and cafes. I found a subject for my project! I found a coffee shop, and the owner is from Washington D.C. I am going back tomorrow to interview and take pictures. Later, we tried going to a different part of town for Alex's project, and things were a little sketchy. We ate at a different biergarten and I got delicious tortellini then came back to the hotel.
It's been a relaxing day!

Days 1 and 2

It has been an exhausting 2 days! Is anyone else tired? We arrived yesterday morning after only a few hours of sleep on the plane. It was a long day. We explored Alexanderplatz and checked out the Saturn store. Later we looked at pieces of the Berlin Wall that are still standing.
We ended the night at Prater Biergarten where I got to have my first German pretzel (delicious) and a Berliner Weiss, woodruff flavored...not very good.

I fell asleep so quickly last night! This morning we had breakfast in the hotel. Tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and olive oil. Delicious. Then we met our tour guide at the Fat Tire Bike Tours. It was the best thing we've done so far. We went all around the city, stopping to take pictures and see the sights. We walked along 1.3 km of the Berlin Wall that artists have painted. It was so interesting to see other people's views on what happened in this city.
We stopped for lunch and I had currywurst for the first time. It was good, but I think I prefer bratwurst! Our 4 hour bike tour turned into more like 5 and a half! It was a long and tiring day. The plan is to watch the soccer match today in a pub, so we'll see what happens.

The Night Before...

This is stressful. I have packed and repacked a million times, and my suitcase still weighs too much...anyone else having this problem? I know that once I get past security though, I will be ready to go! I have been reading up on what to do and see in Berlin and am overwhelmed with how much there is. I can't wait to see it all. I think what I'm looking forward to most is the food. Pretzels? I am so there. I should probably go to sleep so I can wake up tomorrow and start this adventure. See yall there. I can't wait!!
